Of all the Full Frame, modern lens options, BLACKWING7 are one of the few sets that has something that sets them apart from all other modern lens options. Their lens designs were inspired by 1950s and 1960s primes. Keep in mind these are NOT rehoused vintage lenses. These are new designs, based on older, proven lens designs. The lenses share their unique qualities across the full range of lenses, especially their trademark bokeh. It’s so beautiful, that we highly suggest shooting these lenses wide open whenever possible.

X-tune BLACKWING7 primes are the lowest contrast variant of the BLACKWING7 lens range. Further exaggerated edge halation, with a minor degree of spherical aberration and focal plane curvature increases the perception of a shallower depth of field. X-tuned optics have selective edge-uncoating to reduce contrast under hard lighting conditions. They are designed for film makers who light minimally and favour lenses which can create smooth, almost ethereal images.
